THE federal government’s Department of Finance has asked the Australian Federal Police (AFP) to investigate the $10 billion Defence Housing Australia.
The ABC reported that prior to the Easter weekend, the Department of Finance asked referred a matter for investigation to the AFP.
Although the Department of Finance did not disclose the reasons or details of the allegations it has made against the DHA.
“The Department of Finance has referred a matter concerning Defence Housing Australia to the AFP,” a spokesperson said. “As this matter is the subject of ongoing AFP process, it would not be appropriate to comment further.”
The AFP also did not divulge any information, although the agency confirmed it has received a referral.
“The AFP can confirm receipt of a referral from the Department of Finance concerning Defence Housing Australia,” the AFP said. “As this matter is currently under evaluation, it would not be appropriate to comment further.”
