AUSTRALIA Post and Cbus Property’s proposal to build the new Victoria Police precinct has moved to the fourth stage.
Treasurer Tim Pallas said the proposal for a new Victoria Police centre at 311 Spencer St, would provide Victoria Police with a consolidated precinct and connection to the neighbouring City West Police complex.
The new headquarters would provide Victoria Police with alternative accommodation when their current lease at the World Trade Centre expires in 2020. Alternatively, other end-of lease options will be investigated.
The Australia Post and CBus Property proposal has progressed to stage four and exclusive negotiation can now commence to see whether an acceptable agreement can be reached.
The Valuer-General Victoria will now consider the proposal through stage four to ensure there is value for money.
“Our Market-Led Proposals Guideline has made the process more transparent while protecting the community’s interest.
“Importantly, it also provides certainty to parties who approach the government with job-creating ideas – like this proposal for a secure police precinct at the west end of the CBD.” Pallas said.
