AUSTRALAND has received development approval from the Western Australian Government for the first residential component in the Armadale Redevelopment Authority scheme.
Planning and Infrastructure Minister and Armadale MLS Alannah MacTiernan has approved a four and five story mixed use development consisting of 70 residential apartments and three commercial units.
ARA was established to repositioning the Perth suburb of Armadale as part of a rejuvenation scheme designed to increase attract residential and commercial investment, create affordable housing and ensure the long term sustainability of the area.
ARA has followed the successful example of other Transit Orientated Developments in Perth by building key infrastructure, such as train lines and retail facilities, to service the community prior to the commencement of major residential and commercial development.
Australand’s WA general manager Vincent Wee said this is the fifth TOD project Australand has been involved with in WA, following the success of the CBH Platform, Joondalup Centro, Metro Somerly and Cockburn Central.
In New South Wales, Australand recently won the UDIA NSW Landcom Award for Excellence in the High Density Category for a TOD it developed in Sydney’s South, Discovery Point.
Wee said Armadale as a community promises to be one of quality.
“It’s not just about medium to high density residential developments, it’s about extremely high quality infrastructure and dwellings that will sustain and pave the way for the community. Credit must be given to a proactive government that is setting a high national benchmark,” he concluded.
