The Commonwealth Custodial Services has appointed Bovis Lend Lease as construction manager for the refurbishment of 259 George Street in Sydney.
The building was formerly the headquarters of Australian Associated Press.
Work has started on the $40 million redevelopment, which will reposition this important asset for Commonwealth Custodial Services as one of Sydney’s premier landmarks.
The project consists of conversion of the existing two-floor entry lobby and conference complex into a shopping and food court area and upgrading 22 tenancy floors within the commercial high-rise building to A-grade standard.
Many of these floors will be occupied during the course of construction, with the upgrade customised to meet the needs of key tenants.
This project is the latest in a series of projects for CCSL over the past decade, including last year’s $25 million Galleria refurbishment in Melbourne, and four refurbishment phases at 385 Bourke St, Melbourne.
