THE Brisbane Airport Corporation’s (BAC) Airport Industrial Park is set to take off with the delivery of a new 26,120sqm office and warehouse for logistics giant Aramex Australia.
The development of the facility for the global logistics and delivery company will include a warehouse with approximately 25,070sqm of NLA, an office of 1,050sqm NLA and 157 car parking bays and racks for 14 bicycles plus end-of-trip facilities.
With space established for pallet racking, freight sortation and a customer collection zone.
“We are excited to welcome Aramex to launch Airport Industrial Park with us,” he said. “The size of this development highlights the potential for logistics and industrial development at Brisbane Airport at scale,” said Martin Ryan, executive general manager of commercial at BAC.
“With freight and logistics industries becoming increasingly important, the unrivalled transport links of Brisbane Airport offer an ideal home for companies providing these essential services.”
The Aramex site will be centrally positioned within the 49,571sqm industrial-zoned precinct.
The landmark Airport Industrial Park is set to span 100-hectares-plus of master planned warehousing, logistics and manufacturing, over five times that of Brisbane’s South Bank.
The development will involve as many as 1,500 workers during the construction phase, with Aramex set to employ 60 people with over 120 courier franchises operating from the site each day.
The development will also include approximately 1,000kW of commercial rooftop solar panels, adding to the Airport’s sustainability credentials, with approximately 6,000 PV solar panels already fitted to the rooftops of six recent major developments.
“Brisbane Airport’s direct access to road and air transport means we can deliver our goods even more efficiently to customers,” said Jacob Marsters, Brisbane general manager at Aramex.
“In our business, speed and efficiency are critical. That’s why being located at the Brisbane Airport precinct and connected to major arterial roads were key factors in our decision-making. The quick access to the northern, western and southern distribution networks, along with multiple access points in the precinct will be an advantage for our operations.”
In January, BAC secured Sime Darby Motors Australia to its newest warehouse and distribution facility at its Export Park estate, joining RSEA Safety, GEODIS, DHL, Wallenius Wilhelmsen Solutions, Bonds Transport and Direct Couriers.
Airport Industrial Park stage one is currently under development, with land preparation for subsequent stages underway, with the Aramex facility due for a Q2 2024 completion.
