NATIONAL clearance rates hit 59.5% this week, after the number of reported auctions and properties sold dropped somewhat.
According to the latest figures from Domain, nationally there were 1,468 auctions listed for the weekend, up from the previous weeks 1,335, though only 1,006 auctions took place compared to 1,172 the week before.
At 59.5%, the national clearance rate was up from the previous weeks 56.6%, with 598 properties selling at auction compared to 663 in the week prior, with 175 properties withdrawn, up from 155.
Again while the clearance rate was up for the week it was down from 62.3% in the same week last year.
The total value sold for the week was $480.1 million, with houses bringing in an auction median of $1,200,000 and units at $856,500.
The total value was down on last week’s $528.9 million, with the auction median for houses improving from $1,165,000 and for units from $775,000.
Compared to the same week last year, the total value sold was down from $1165.1 million, the house auction median at $1,339,000 and the unit auction median at $879,250.
In Sydney the clearance rate was up from 55.8% to 60.2%, with 367 reported auctions, 96 withdrawals and 221 properties selling.
This was for a total value sold of $212.0 million, or an auction median of $1,659,000 for houses and $1,105,000 for units.
In Melbourne the clearance rate was up from 58.6% to 58.8%, with 497 reported auctions, 62 withdrawals and 292 properties selling.
This was for a total value sold of $211.6 million, or an auction median of $1,018,000 for houses and $682,500 for units.
While in Adelaide, the clearance rate was well above the national average at 70%, with 81 auctions reported, four withdrawals and 38 properties sold, for $24,792,000 in total sales and a median of $805,000.
In Brisbane the clearance rate was at 52%, with 54 auctions reported, five withdrawals and 28 sold, for $21,633,500 in value and a median of $1,162,500.
While Canberra had a clearance rate of 50%, with 60 auctions reported, eight withdrawals and 30 properties sold for a total value of $19,305,000 and a median of $1,222,500.
