INTEGRATED services group Downer and Ventia have separately won bids to deliver services across the Homes NSW public housing portfolio, in a contract worth over $1.4 billion.
Downer’s $860 million contract will deliver responsive and programmed maintenance services in areas 9, 12 and 13, which covers Inner City Sydney, Southern Tablelands, South Coast, Macarthur and Southern Highlands, and Illawarra.
This will include responsive maintenance along with capital upgrade, vacant restoration, home modifications and lawns, grounds and cleaning services and works to around 24,000 public housing dwellings.
“Downer has a long history of providing property and facilities management services for government departments, agencies and authorities at the federal, state and municipal level,” Peter Tompkins, CEO at Downer.
“We have successfully partnered with the NSW Land and Housing Corporation, now Homes NSW, for more than 20 years, and are proud to renew our relationship and continue to deliver these vital services for the people of NSW, while also providing sustainable employment opportunities and supporting social enterprises.”
The contract commences July 1 2024 for a maximum term of 10 years, with an initial term of five years and provisions for two extensions of two years and one of one year.
The government announced it would establish Homes NSW back in September 2023, with a target of delivering more affordable and social housing and reduce the number of people without homes across the state.
At the same time, Ventia has been awarded a renewed contract to provide responsive and programmed maintenance for the state government’s Homes NSW across three regions, which the ASX-listed group says will generate $570 million in revenue.
Ventia has been providing services to Homes NSW – formerly the Land and Housing Corporation – since 2002, delivering more than 350,000 programs of work annually during that period.
Ventia group executive defence and social infrastructure, Derek Osborn said Ventia’s status as a trusted Homes NSW partner and top performing tenant satisfaction service provider was achieved by an experienced team who understand the complexities of delivery in a social housing context.
“Every interaction our people have with tenants demonstrates our respect for their time, property and right to live in a safe and secure home,” he said.
“It aligns with our commitment to make a positive impact on the people and world around us through every decision and action we take.”
Commencing from the beginning of July, the initial five-year contract will see Ventia continue to deliver maintenance, project and program services in Greater Western Sydney and the Northern and Western Sydney region, encompassing Northern Suburbs and Parramatta.
Ventia is also the alternative contractor for the Penrith region, which includes Katoomba across to Richmond and Windsor.
