Flight Centre is presently undertaking an extensive fit-out of the two-level 31 Rundle Mall store, which will feature the travel retailer’s latest store design.
CBRE`s Julia Pottenger negotiated the 10-year Adelaide lease on behalf of The Makris Group.
She said the tenancy, formally occupied by Wittner, is the latest to be secured by Flight Centre as part of its continued Adelaide expansion over the past 12 months.
“Escape Travel, also part of the Flight Centre Travel Group, has taken a two-level store at 33/39 King William St and Travel Money, the company`s FX business, has opened at 65 Grenfell St – with both those leases also negotiated by CBRE.
“Market activity within Rundle Mall has definitely increased following the completion of the Rundle Mall Redevelopment late last year under which the council injected $30 million into various improvements,” Pottenger said.
Meanwhile Wittner has moved to a more central mall location adjoining Nespresso.
Other movers in Adelaide include Veronika Maine, relocating next to its sister brand, Cue at the recently upgraded Adelaide Central Plaza whilst Lorna Jane has secured a second CBD store at 93 Rundle Mall.
Mimco has also moved, allowing McGees to offer 63 Rundle Mall to the market for the first time since 1977.
Pottenger said demand in the wider Adelaide CBD market was still being driven by the food & beverage sectors.
“New entrants into Rundle Mall are a great sign that retailers are confident in the precinct and believe that a Rundle Mall location is fundamental to their brand development,” she concluded.
