HEALTH and aged care property investor Australian Unity Healthcare Property Trust, in partnership with aged care operator Infinite Care, have kicked off construction on a new 177-bed facility in the outer Melbourne suburb Knoxfield.
The sod turn ceremony for the six-level Infinite Care Knox brought together federal and local government, building project representatives, senior living leaders and community groups.
Set to open its doors in December 2025, the facility also feature dining and recreation facilities as well as an onsite café and club floor that will overlook the Waterford Valley Golf Course and Dandenong ranges.
The facility will be owned by the $3.7 billion Australian Unity Healthcare Property Trust, and operated by Infinite Care under a 25-year lease.
Builder Infinity Constructions was awarded the building contract, and Connect Project Management has been assigned to oversee the project.
Tony Partridge, joint managing director of Infinite Care, said, “With many Knox residents at retirement age and approaching their older years, this home will provide the world-class care and resident experiences that Infinite Care is known for and improve thousands of lives in future years”.
Chris Smith, general manager Healthcare Property, noted that the number of Victorians over 60 is set to nearly double to 2.3 million by 2046.
