Apartment buyer Lankin Investments has hired Andrew Berndt as director of private capital markets – a new position under the firm’s nascent wealth management division, Green Street News can reveal.
Berndt’s first day was June 2, and he reports to Ramin Atta, vice president of marketing and revenue operations. The position is based in the Greater Toronto Area.
Before joining Lankin, Berndt was private capital markets manager at McGillivray Capital Partners, which operates the Scott McGillivray Real Estate Fund and invests in residential development projects.
This year, Lankin is looking to significantly boost assets under management for the wealth management division, which it is also planning to rebrand. Chief operating officer Kyle Hulme leads the division.
Its current portfolio of assets under management has over 6,400 units across more than 65 properties, totaling $2bn.
Lankin aims to provide eligible and accredited investors access to private real estate investments via Lankin Apartment REIT, its Value Add Growth Fund and direct deals.
