MAJOR corporate law firm Thomson Geer has signed on as a tenant at ICD Property’s joint venture project with the City of Adelaide, the $400 million Market Square development.
Thomson Geer will be the anchor tenant at ICD’s Market Square office tower, bringing its 130 Adelaide-based staff to the 2,636sqm top floor of the 9-storey A-grade tower atop a multi-level retail podium.
“Securing an anchor tenant of Thomson Geer’s calibre is a testament to the ambitious concept behind this development and the office tower’s unique earth-friendly initiatives that will deliver lower ongoing operational costs and significant savings,” said Sal Quah, deputy managing director at ICD Property.
“Thomson Geer has signed a 10 year lease which not only validates the project’s vision but also drives its momentum, attracting further interest and investment from top tier and global firms.”
Thomson Geer is one Australia’s leading law firms, boasting more than 700 people and offices across Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Canberra.
“The impressive office tower is a big drawcard for businesses with its all-electric status and 6-Star Green Star rating achieved through a number of smart design choices including rooftop solar, rainwater capture for irrigation, use of locally-sourced recovered materials and waste minimisation,” added Quah.
“The once-in-a-generation Market Square precinct is designed for activation and having an office here means having access to unmatched exclusive amenity including innovative childcare Hei Schools, the globally renowned Treehouse Hotel, an extensive retail offering including an expanded Adelaide Central Market and an outdoor terrace space.”
Quah noted just three of the nine commercial floors now remain available, with the other floors currently under offer or in negotiation.
“Market Square is a very special development that our team will greatly appreciate but equally it’s a significant project for both the city and the state and we are delighted to support it,” said Adrian Tembel, chief executive partner at Thomson Geer.
“The innovative design and prime location of this development will not only attract top-tier businesses like Thomson Geer but also enhance the overall vibrancy and economic strength of our city and sustain our Central Market into the future,” added the Lord Mayor of Adelaide, Jane Lomax-Smith.
The Market Square development is being built by leading construction company Multiplex and will be delivered in stages through to 2026.
