THE national clearance rate was up again this week at 60.9%, as activity saw a slightly across the country but was more restrained in Sydney.
According to the latest insights from Domain, nationally there were 1,611 auctions listed, up from the previous week’s 1,569, with 1,142 auctions taking place compared to 1,334 the week before.
At 60.9%, the national clearance rate was up from the previous weeks revised 58.8%, with 696 properties selling at auction compared to 785 in the week prior, with 191 properties withdrawn, down from 178.
The clearance rate was down on the same week last year, where the rate was at 76.3%, with 940 properties listed, 848 auction reported and 647 properties selling.
The total value sold for the week was $570.8 million, with houses bringing in an auction median of $1,180,000 and units at $802,500.
This was down on last week’s $679.8 million, with the auction median for houses practically unchanged from $1,180,500 and with units down from $855,000.
Compared to the same week last year, the total value sold was down from $1031.2 million, the house auction median at $1,405,000 and the unit auction median at $1,165,000.
In Sydney the clearance rate was up from 54.7% to 61.9%, with 383 reported auctions, 105 withdrawals and 237 properties selling.
This was for a total value sold of $247.8 million, or an auction median of $1,700,000 for houses and $1,060,000 for units.
In Melbourne the clearance rate was up marginally from 60.1% to 60.7%, with 596 reported auctions, 65 withdrawals and 362 properties selling.
This was for a total value sold of $248.1 million, or an auction median of $1,040,000 for houses and $691,000 for units.
While in Adelaide, the clearance rate was again well above the national average at 76%, with 63 auctions reported, three withdrawals and 48 properties sold, for $34,139,500 in total sales and a median of $715,000.
In Brisbane the clearance dropped below the national average to 46%, with 54 auctions reported, 11 withdrawals and 25 sold, with total sales value at $23,169,000, with a median of $1,130,000.
While in Canberra the clearance rate also slipped below the national average to 52%, with 63 auctions reported, seven withdrawals and 33 properties sold for a total value of $23,761,000 and the median falling below the million dollar mark at $990,000.
