DEVELOPER Pellicano is doing their part to address rental supply, adding 166 build-to-rent residences to their new Oakleigh South retail precinct.
The $250 million mixed-use hub The Links will undergo its third and final stage of development after obtaining the green light.
Housing supply around the country has only worsened in recent years with vacancy rates at an incredibly low level. With the addition of the build-to-rent project ‘Fieldworks House,’ it can open up slightly more breathing room in a tightening supply landscape. Designed by architects i2C, Fieldworks House will consist of 166 BTR residences spanning 1, 2 and 3-bedroom options with hotel-style amenities.
Pellicano has over 350 BTR apartments currently operational with 400 more currently in construction. Recently completed projects include Berwick House (110 residences) in Fortitude Valley, Hillyard House (150 residences) in Bowen Hills and Story House (86 residences) in Kangaroo Point.
“We set out to create a new retail hub for Oakleigh South with The Links – our tenant mix, including a number of blue chip operators and our location have made it a popular choice among leading retailer brands,” managing director Nando Pellicano said.
“The Pellicano Living ethos is centred around creating a lifestyle for our residential clients – our projects mix retail with high-quality residences and hotel-style amenity in well-connected locations. This delivers reliable foot traffic for operators and convenience for future residents.
“With plans now approved, we expect to break ground on the Fieldworks House site later in 2023,” he added.
The Links is set to provide a major boost to the economy of Oakleigh South. The retail precinct offers 3000 sqm of new ground-floor retail and hospitality opportunities. The precinct contains a strong network of heavyweights headlined by Woolworths, Bunnings Warehouse, Chemist Warehouse, BWS and Snap Fitness. The Links adds to Pellicano’s portfolio of mixed-use precincts, following the $750 million apartment complex South/City/SQ in Woollongabba, Brisbane.
