THE founder of Australia’s popular Pressed Juice stores, Leo Pegoli, has leased the last remaining 120 sqm of retail space within the Grid at 567 Collins St in Melbourne.
The Pressed Lab café signed a five-year lease in a deal negotiated by Colliers International’s Ben Tremellen and Georgie Cichy.
“At Pressed Juices, we really pride ourselves on our ability to be innovative,” Pegoli said.
“The Pressed Lab will be the new flagship store that will be the testing ground for all our new products.
“Not only will it be stocked full of our extensive range of cold pressed juices and fair trade, organic coffee, The Pressed Lab will also be a cafe that focuses on a balanced, seasonal menu. It will provide diners with innovative and tasty ways to consume healthy and nutritious meals, catering for all dietary requirements,” he added.
Tremellen said the rise of the healthy food trend, which had become particularly prominent over the past year, was opening the door for new and exciting retail offerings catering to growing demand from CBD workers and visitors alike.
Recent additions to this scene in Melbourne have included the third Nutrition Bar store at 417 St Kilda Rd, Laneway Greens at 242 Flinders Lane, Five Plus at 265 Little Lonsdale St and Collins Place, Thrive and Mero Mero at the Emporium and Pressed Juices at 470 Collins St.
“We saw an opportunity to complete the tenancy mix at 567 Collins St with a point of difference,” Cichy said.
“While working closely with anchor office tenants Corrs Chambers Westgarth and Australian infrastructure company, Jemena, overall feedback was a desire for a retail operator focusing specifically on readily accessible health foods, complementing the onsite Virgin Active Health Club.
“We are seeing an expansion of the volume and variety of retail being offered, including generally healthier dining options,” she added.
According to Colliers research, there is growing demand for more retail space in CBD and commercial precincts, particularly within the western core with Colliers negotiating more than 15 leases in the past 18 months.
The Grid retail precinct forms part of the ground plane forecourt at 567 Collins St and offers 13 retail tenancies ranging from 33 sqm to 121 sqm.
Colliers is currently leasing the last remaining tenancy (42 sqm) at 568 Collins St.
