SVEN Almenning and Greg Sanderson’s The Speakeasy Group is bringing its latest night time offering to Brookfield Place Sydney’s Wynyard Lane.
The group will re-establish its former Darlinghurst cocktail bar Eau-de-Vie, the group’s first venue opened more than a decade back, while also launching a new restaurant concept in The Sanderson.
The Sanderson will be located on the first floor of Beneficial House off Wynyard Lane, with Eau-de-Vie occupying the basement.
In its first tenure, the Darlinghurst location of Eau-de-Vie was named as one of the best cocktail bars globally, having been award the rank of World’s Best New Cocktail Bar at the 2011 Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards.
“Completely befitting the historical bones of Beneficial House, the new iteration will bring the same dimly lit, jazz-infused atmosphere that’s synonymous with the Eau-de-Vie brand, including intimate booths, the signature Whisky Room, an enormous back bar, and private whisky lockers to be pre-sold at the end of 2022,” said Almenning.
While The Sanderson will be a steak and oyster restaurant specialising in quality Australian meat, local oysters, world-class cocktails and a curated wine offering.
“The Speakeasy Group’s unique bar and restaurant offering will bring an excellent addition to our food and beverage mix at Brookfield Place Sydney and will contribute significantly to activating the precinct’s nightlife,” said Danny Poljak, executive vice president and co-head at Brookfield Properties Australia.
The fit outs for both offerings across the 618sqm 10-year lease will be designed by Studio Y, long-time collaborators of The Speakeasy Group.
The Brookfield, AMP Capital Wholesale Office Fund, UniSuper-owned Brookfield Place Sydney also boasts other evening food and beverage offerings including the Menzies Bar, Clocktower Bar, and Shell House Rooftop Terrace and Dining, by The Point.
The Speakeasy Group currently operates seven bars and restaurants across Sydney and Melbourne, with its newest concept scheduled for an early-2022 opening.
