BRITISH fashion label Topshop will open its second Australian store at GPT's Highpoint shopping centre in Melbourne's west.
The 1,600 sqm store will open in early 2013 and will be Topshop’s first foray into a shopping centre and its second shop in Australia following its flagship store at Challenger Diversified Property Group’s Jam Factory.
GPT’s head of asset management Matthew Faddy said the leasing coup will maintain the centre’s reputation of being the first to deliver big name brands to the west.
“We look forward to welcoming TopShop to the centre in early 2013, alongside David Jones and over 80 additional speciality retailers,” he added.
Faddy said the construction of Highpoint’s new fashion mall is quickly progressing. Due to open in early 2013, the extension will a 14,000 sqm two-level David Jones store, the first to Melbourne’s west.
Stage 1 of the $300 million development, which will include a new Woolworths, Fresh Food Market and new mall featuring approximately 20 retailers is scheduled to open in October this year.
“Upon completion Highpoint will be home to more than 520 retailers,” he added.
But Melbourne is not the only city on the retailer’s radar, Topshop will be expanding into Sydney next year, with plans to open at the Gowings Building.
