THE Western Australian government is seeking an experienced architect to lead and help shape the future development growth of the state.
Planning Minister Rita Saffioti said the position provides design leadership and strategic advice to ensure good design is at the centre of all development and major projects.
The Government Architect also heads the State Design Review Panel and will also support the newly proposed Special Matters Development Assessment Panel, which will consider major developments to support the post-pandemic economic recovery.
“The Government Architect will play a significant role in shaping the evolution of our city, as well as influencing design of development across the State.
“Current planning reform measures will open new opportunities and encourage exciting development proposals from both the public and private sector, including local community infrastructure, road and rail networks and more complex mixed-use developments.
“We have a very strong talent pool in Western Australia and I encourage all architects who share our vision for a connected, vibrant city, to put their names forward for this exciting opportunity.” Saffioti said.
Applications are open for three weeks, closing Wednesday June 17, 2020.
