The residential property auction market was divided across different capital cities last Saturday.
According to Australian Property Monitors’ Home Price Guide, Sydney was the only city to record a fall in the number of properties auctioned.
Last Saturday, 170 properties were auctioned compared to 201 a week earlier.
Meanwhile, the residential property auction markets in Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane recorded an increase in the number of properties auctioned.
In Melbourne, 422 properties were auctioned compared to 347 listings a week earlier.
In Adelaide, 49 properties were auctioned compared to 47 and in Brisbane 46 properties were auction compared to 34 a week earlier.
Last Saturday in Sydney, 85 properties were sold with a total value of $64.2 million.
In Melbourne, 149 properties were sold totalling $55.5 million.
Adelaide and Brisbane recorded 14 and 12 sales totalling $5 and $5.4 million respectively.
Meanwhile, a recent poll by domain.com.au has found that almost 40% of households are spending over 40% of their income on mortgage repayments.
The survey found a further 19% of households are spending between 31% and 40% of their income on repayments, while only 10% of home owners are spending 20% or less of their income on repayments.
These results were compiled after the Reserve Bank left interest rates on hold.
