LOGISTICS and transport provider FDM Warehousing has doubled its partnership with Frasers Property Australia in Sydney’s industrial hub of Eastern Creek, signing a second lease of more than 16,000 sqm.
It is the second tenant to commit to the stage five of Frasers Property’s Eastern Creek Business Park, after Rhino Rack signed a deal over 13,500 sqm in March. The 10-hectare precinct is adjacent to the previously developed 100 hectares of the Business Park.
The 16,200 sqm purpose-built distribution facility at Honeycomb Drive has an end value of more than $31 million and includes a 435 sqm main office, 110 sqm dock office and 145 car spaces, and offers round-the-clock pick and pack operating capacity.
FDM already leases the 7 Eucalyptus Place facility 900 metres away, which is spread across 16,074 sqm, and owned by the Frasers Logistics & Industrial Trust.
It has signed a five-year deal over the 5 Star Green Star Honeycomb Drive property and will relocate its warehousing and distribution operations at Wonderland Drive, Eastern Creek to the new premises, to accommodate its growth strategy for the 2019 to 2021 period.
“We continue to witness high on-going demand for purpose-built warehouses from local and international 3PL providers,” general manager, northern region for Frasers Property Australia, Ian Barter said. “This strong demand, combined with a constrained land market, is resulting in an up-turn in Western Sydney rents.”
The new facility will include a solar PV system, 10.5 metre gutter purlin, six-tonne post load for racking and staging areas, and eight-tonne post load in the mezzanine area.
Patrick Jobidon, FDM chief executive officer, said the facility is part of a five-year strategy to grow its business in Australia.
“The new facility’s building specifications allows our fulfilment capabilities to be multi-functional and serve a diversified range of customers and their products. The versatility of this facility will enable us to assist more customers in Australia and propel the business into the future.”
It is expecting to move into the premises in February 2019.
Frasers Property purchased the 10-hectare site for stage fivein the middle of 2016. It is positioned around 40 kilometres west of the Sydney CBD, and offers easy access to the M4 Western Motorway and Westlink M7.
TM Insight managed the design and procurement stages for FDM, and will be FDM’s project management representative throughout construction and transition.
