NATIONAL clearance rates were up this week at 62.6%, as activity slowed compared with last weekend.
According to the latest insights from Domain, nationally there were 1,566 auctions listed, down from the previous week’s 1,677, with 1,065 auctions taking place compared to 1,458 the week before.
At 62.6%, the national clearance rate was up from the previous weeks revised 54.3%, with 667 properties selling at auction compared to 792 in the week prior, with 171 properties withdrawn, down from 191.
The clearance rate was down on the same week last year, where the rate was at 74.5%, with 1,135 properties listed, 911 auction reported and a comparable 679 properties selling.
The total value sold for the week was $569.9 million, with houses bringing in an auction median of $1,202,500 and units at $855,000.
This was down on last week’s $615.6 million, with the auction median for houses up from $1,126,100 and with units down from $742,250.
Compared to the same week last year, the total value sold was down from $959.3 million, the house auction median at $1,381,250 and the unit auction median at $1,087,500.
In Sydney the clearance rate was up from 51.3% to 60.0%, with 400 reported auctions, 109 withdrawals and 240 properties selling.
This was for a total value sold of $223.0 million, or an auction median of $1,805,500 for houses and $1,170,000 for units.
In Melbourne the clearance rate was up from 57.6% to 63.5%, with 532 reported auctions, 53 withdrawals and 338 properties selling.
This was for a total value sold of $277.8 million, or an auction median of $1,111,900 for houses and $664,500 for units.
While in Adelaide, the clearance rate was still well above the national average at 74%, with 57 auctions reported, one withdrawal and 42 properties sold, for $30,535,500 in total sales and a median of $740,000.
In Brisbane the clearance rate was back up at 62%, with 37 auctions reported, five withdrawals and 23 sold, with total sales value at $18,518,500, with a median of $1,670,000.
While in Canberra the clearance rate was at 62%, with 39 auctions reported, three withdrawals and 24 properties sold for a total value of $19,962,000 and a median of $1,075,000.
