FRASERS Property Australia has revealed its new shopping centre in its growing Mambourin community in Melbourne’s west, after receiving permit approval for the first stage of the precinct.
The $50 million Mambourin Marketplace will be anchored by a major supermarket and will feature 7,200sqm of retail space including a proposed medical precinct, pharmacy and up to 25 specialty stores including fresh food grocers, cafes and restaurants.
The first stage of the precinct will be complemented by a landscape urban plaza, which includes approval for a children’s play space, artwork, al fresco dining, a central events space and end-of-trip cycling facilities, including bike storage, shower and changeroom facilities.
Mambourin Marketplace will be developed by Frasers Property and will be designed by architects Clarke Hopkins Clarke.
“We’re excited to be progressing with the first stage of retail development at Mambourin,” said Sarah Bloom, general manager of development Victoria at Frasers Property Australia.
“Frasers Property has a track record of delivering world class retail developments across Australia and will bring this expertise to Mambourin to create a great local shopping centre.”
The centre will feature a 5 Star Green Star building featuring a range of green initiatives such as an 800kw solar PV system, 100% renewable energy supply and provision for electric vehicle charging.
Last month, Frasers Property Australia unveiled its $500 million master planned community in Keperra, in Brisbane’s north west, which is set to transform a quarry site into a mix of house and land sites and Rothelowman-designed terrace homes.
“Mambourin Marketplace will add to the growing list of amenities available to local residents, as well as providing job opportunities and a central meeting place for the community,” added Bloom.
Mambourin Marketplace will complement the recently announced Good News Lutheran College P-12 Campus and a gateway retail precinct on Black Forest Rd, which is proposed to include a childcare centre, petrol station and fast-food offerings.
Mambourin Marketplace will be the first stage of a proposed major retail precinct planned to span around 25,000sqm of retail space and potentially adjoin a future proposed train station, local business district and community facilities.
Construction on the precinct is scheduled to commence in late 2023, with the opening planned for late 2024 or early 2025.
