THE Queensland Miles government has tipped in $15 million for a block of land in Caloundra South located within Stockland’s Aura community and leased by the Sunshine Coast Council to establish a Police-Citizens Youth Club (PCYC) facility.
PCYC Queensland is a charity providing local programs and services to meet youth development, early intervention, crime prevention and local community needs.
Stockland is contributing the 6,500 sqm site to the Sunshine Coast Council under the infrastructure agreement for the Aura master-planned community. The Council agreed late last month to lease land on to PCYC.
The first artist impressions have been released as planning for construction commences.
The facility will be built near the new Caloundra South police station within the emergency services precinct off Bells Creek Arterial Road.
There are currently 54 PCYCs across Queensland which deliver youth engagement programs to more than 50,000 young people each year.
