AMP Capital Investors has unveiled plans to undertake a $145 million redevelopment of the Mt Ommaney Centre.
The Development Application was lodged with the Brisbane City Council last week, following a presentation of the masterplan to council officers last month.
The Development Application proposes to increase Mt Ommaney Centre by 45% to include major retailers, Target and a relocated and enlarged Coles, and provide an additional 65 speciality shops.
The redeveloped centre will include a food court and an indoor/outdoor area.
The plan also allows for an additional 400 car spaces.
AMP Capital Shopping Centres’ managing director Peter Feros said the proposed $145 million redevelopment is in response to the growing population of south east Queensland.
“The redeveloped centre will meet the needs of the growing trade area and will further cement Mt Ommaney Centre as a community focal point.
“AMP Capital Investors has so far received very positive feedback from local businesses and community leaders on the proposal,” he added.
Pending the development application approval, the upgrade project is expected to take 18 months, commencing as early as December this year.
The new revitalised centre is expected to be fully operational by June 2009.
