A 5,361sqm site in the picturesque township of Maleny on the Sunshine Coast has sold for $3.4 million.
The property covers six adjoining lots, at 40-46 Maple Street and 8 Fig Lane, and was sold with two commercial dwellings on the main street frontage on Maple Street, and an older-style home on the corner of Willow Lane and Fig Street.
Savills Brisbane’s Gregory Woods and Savills Sunshine Coast’s Jason O’Meara sold the property, which currently returns a “moderate” income stream.
They said the purchaser resides just north of the Sunshine Coast region and has not disclosed plans for the site, which is zoned District Centre and potentially allows for retail, commercial, residential units/townhouses, supermarket, hotel or short-term accommodation uses.
Woods said the outstanding site presented an exciting new opportunity in the heart of the popular township of Maleny and is ideal for sub-division or a staged mixed-use development.
“We had a lot of strong interest in the site and believe it provides a platform for a signature development that in time will add to the character of Maleny,” he said.
O’Meara said that future development opportunities for the property are many and the fact that the site offers multiple lots allows for plenty of options for the buyer to fully maximise the potential of the site.
“There are not many opportunities like this available in popular hinterland towns such as Maleny, offering over one and a quarter acres of land in the middle of the main street with the flexibility of this zoning and three-street frontage and access,” he said.
