Provincial land registry operator Teranet is partnering with a B.C. prop-tech company to launch a digital conveyancing platform in Ontario.
The platform, GoVeyance, launching in the province today, promises to automate a number of tasks related to conveyancing for commercial and residential transactions, including title registration searches, electronic document signings and facilitating online payments. It will be fully integrated with Ontario’s online land registry database operated by Teranet.
Developed by ReadyWhen Tech, the GoVeyance platform creates a one-stop shop for real estate lawyers, notaries, commercial lenders and more. Users will be able to customize the platform interface and tailor it to their needs.
“We have clients in British Columbia, whether it’s for a strip mall or a high-rise purchase, already using us for their transactions because we offer the ability to customize the process required for those types of transactions,” ReadyWhen chief executive Jessie Vaid told Green Street News.
The inspiration for GoVeyance came from legal professional colleagues of Vaid who were looking for a tech-based solution to the often-cumbersome process of property transfers.
If the Ontario launch proves successful, GoVeyance could soon be available in other provinces. The expansion of the service was supported in part through an undisclosed strategic investment by Teranet.
“The partnership [with Teranet] is for us to work together and grow the product,” Vaid said.
