JIM Hazel and Charlotte Vidor have been inducted into the Property Council of Australia’s Property Hall of Fame at a gala dinner in Canberra last night.
Property Council chief executive Mike Zorbas said the induction was in recognition of their “tremendously influential” roles in the industry and pioneering efforts in their respective fields.
“Without their remarkable leadership, retirement villages and serviced apartments would not have achieved the level of success they enjoy today,” Zorbas said.
“Jim played a foundational role in the success of the retirement living industry. The results of his decades of commitment, bold thinking and customer focus will benefit senior Australians for generations to come.
“He has extended his access, advice and network to property executives across the country, thus assisting industry’s advancement at the same time.
He said Vidor was similarly pioneer of the serviced apartments industry, “taking an idea from overseas and fitting it into the Australian context”.
“She has been a trailblazer for women in construction and development, created new classes of hospitality assets and generously supported the career growth of many young people,” he said.
Hazel said it was an honour to be inducted into the Australian Property Hall of Fame, both as the first South Australian and first from the retirement living sector.
“This is an extraordinary, and humbling, honour,” he said.
“Being recognised for creating wonderful communities for senior Australians is a great joy to me.”
Vidor said she is appreciative of the recognition.
“It’s a tremendous honour to be welcomed into the Property Hall of Fame,” she said.
“I am sincerely thankful for this recognition and proud to be in the company of so many respected leaders in the industry.”
The Hall of Fame selection committee is chaired by Dexus CEO Darren Steinberg and comprises Greg Paramor, Carolyn Viney, Laurence Lancini, Lexia Wilson, Steven Yovich and Rosina Di Maria.
The Australian Property Hall of Fame, administered by the Property Council, was established in 2012. Other inductees have included Frank Lowy, Carol Schwartz, Sir John Pidgeon, Sir Keith Campbell, and Sir Albert Jennings.
