ONE of the Taroom district’s most expansive private landholdings, Moorabinda, has hit the market for the first time in more than a century.
Sitting around 64km southwest of Taroom and 130km northeast of Roma, the 109-year-old institutional-grade beef production asset spans 15,997 hectares and boasts a carrying capacity of 6,000 adult equivalents.
Grant Veivers and Darren Collins from LAWD have been appointed to manage the sale of the property via an expressions of interest campaign.
“Moorabinda has a high carrying capacity, strong land and vegetation types, flowing bores and high-quality improvements,” said Veivers.
“If you add to this, its secure rainfall in a tick-free environment, in a location regarded as Queensland’s blue-ribbon beef production region, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
Moorabinda includes 43 paddocks and an extensive development program with blade ploughing, and ongoing land management and improved pastures.
This includes over than 12,000 hectares of prime undulating brigalow, belah, bauhinia and vine scrub land types.
“Very rarely does a property of this calibre and scale come to market,” said Collins.
“It is an absolute privilege for the team at LAWD to represent our vendors with the sale of this magnificent holding.”
Improvements include two modern homesteads, while investments have also been made into infrastructure improvements with two large sets of cattle yards, five machinery/storage sheds and excellent equine facilities.
While livestock are watered via 10 equipped bores 53 earth dams and 47 troughs, which is underpinned by an average annual rainfall of approximately 655mm, plus over 15km of dual frontage to Scotts Creek.
The expressions of interest campaign for Moorabina is scheduled to close on 29 August 2024.
