MANTLE Group Hospitality owner Godfrey Mantle and his wife Jenny have put the 184-hectare former home of Terranora Lakes Country Club to the market, with approval for 1,600 residential lots and an aged care home.
Located seven kilometres from Coolangatta, the Bilambil Heights and Cobaki land is expected the generated interest from residential and retirement developers “looking to provide much needed housing” for the southern Gold Coast and northern New South Wales community, according to marketing agents David Higgins and James Holland of Colliers, and Randal Wilson of Wilson Property.
Godfrey Mantle acquired the site from liquidators to the club 22 years ago after the Country Club closed its doors in 1996.
The approval allows for 1,604 lots and dwellings in addition to a 200-bed nursing home.
“As a former 18-hole golf course, the contours provide undulating land unique for a development of this scale,” Higgins said. “The current plan allows for nine precincts with a variety of housing options to be built around a retail and commercial village. The site is elevated with each of the nine precincts providing stunning views to the Gold Coast coastline and inland ranges,”
Major projects in the region include the $370 million expansion of Gold Coast airport, and the proposed $582 million Tweed Valley Hospital development.
Expressions of interest for the site close April 17.
