ST Hilliers and Cbus Property have unveiled the long awaited $150 million apartment development, Dominion, in the heart of Darlinghurst.
Dominion comprises two new seven-storey buildings and two fully renovated heritage buildings totaling 110 apartments.
The project is being developed on a triangular 4,488 sqm site – formerly the Caritas Centre for 140 years.
Dominion is being marketed exclusively by Colliers International, with an official launch planned for mid-August.
Colliers NSW residential projects division head Murray Wood said is hard-pressed to think of a Sydney location which has so much going for it as the Dominion site.
“Ever since the masterplan was announced, people have been waiting for the apartments to launch. The anticipation is palpable, and I know Dominion will become another architectural landmark in this highly-prized area.
“It is being built on what is probably East Sydney’s highest point, so not only will the development become a feature, it means that a good proportion of its apartments will gain city – and even harbour – aspects,” he added.
Dominion has been designed by Group GSA architects, in consultation with heritage architects Noel Bell Ridley Smith and Partners. Heritage elements will be retained, restored and reused, including the private internal courtyard which will be fully landscaped with mature trees, gardens, lawns, a water feature and permanent outdoor seating.
Wood is confident of substantial demand when the apartments are released in a few weeks time.
“There is such limited supply of new accommodation in this area that values can only continue to appreciate,” he concluded.
