DEVELOPER Pellicano has started construction of its $46 million build-to-rent project, at Solarino House, in Brunswick in Melbourne’s inner north.
Designed by 6-Degrees Architects, the project will 70 apartments, a communal rooftop featuring barbeques, a Mediterranean-style herb garden and orchard, as well as ground floor retail.
Pellicano will retain ownership of the project under its ‘Pellicano Living’ banner. The delivery of Solarino House will bring the total number of tenants under management to over 1000.
Pellicano managing director Nando Pellicano said whilst BTR is a relatively new concept in Australia, the Pellicano family has worked with the model since the early 1970’s when it developed and retained Clayton House, a collection of 24 townhomes, which the developer continues to own and manage to this day.
Pellicano developed buildings/apartments on behalf of its investors, and it now includes a total of over 500 apartments across six properties and a further eight BTR properties in the pipeline.
“Build-to-rent is a model we’re committed to as a business off the back of these projects. We want to keep pushing the envelope in terms of the level of service we offer our members.” Pellicano said.
