VALAD Property Group has lodged a development application for the One Alfred Street project, currently occupied by the 1960’s office tower, Gold Fields House.
The application comes after the Sydney City Council and the Central Sydney Planning Committee approved draft amendments to Council’s Local Environmental Plan for the planning precinct adjacent to Circular Quay.
Valad appointed Kerry Hill Architects for the project, which will include apartments with direct views of the Opera House, Harbour Bridge, and North and South Head.
Valad managing director Peter Hurley said the two proposed towers will create a landmark address for Sydney and help revitalise a precinct which is the birthplace of modern Australia.
“This is a very exciting project for Valad and we are in regular contact with the Council and all other authorities including the NSW Government to ensure that the redevelopment of One Alfred Street enhances the community and commercial aspirations of the historic Circular Quay precinct.
“Valad is proud to have applied its value-add approach to unlocking future upside for the investors in the project. The property is owned by V Plus (Valad’s Australian wholesale value-add fund), a major international pension fund and Valad itself,” he added.
The draft LEP has been submitted by Council to the NSW Department of Planning, where approval by the Minister for Planning is required prior to finalisation.
