FORMER AFL footballer Andrew Welsh’s residential development group, Wel.Co has launched its $100 million Gracewood community in Mallala, north of Adelaide.
The opening release has nearly sold out following last weekend’s launch, Wel.Co said.
Spanning 40 hectares and 500 lots, Gracewood will feature a range of housing options, and include an adventure playground, half-basketball court, walking tracks, fitness equipment and BBQ facilities, as well as a proposed early learning centre.
“This is yet another exciting Wel.Co community that is helping grow our South Australia development partner portfolio,” Welsh said.
Gracewood’s site is owned by the Konzag family, headed by local grain farmer Richard Konzag, who has been working up plans for new housing on the site since it was rezoned for residential development in 2015.
Konzag said the area was in desperate need of more housing.
“A couple of years ago the town actually ran out of housing blocks,” he said.
“There’s been a couple of small additions since then, but we want to help support businesses in the town like sporting clubs and service clubs so we’re really looking forward to continuing to work with Wel.Co to build the tremendous Mallala community.”
Wel.Co are a gold sponsor of the Mallala Football Club, one of 14 sporting clubs that Wel.Co sponsors around the country.
Lots in Stage 1 range in size from 485 sqm to 919 sqm with prices starting from just $186,900.
Wel.Co was last month given the green light for the first stage of its $625 million Yallarah Estate community in regional Victoria’s Echuca.
Yallarah Estate will comprise 2,000 home sites, and Wel.Co will deliver $38 million in major infrastructure enhancements.
