GOODMAN Group has secured Woolworths to a new mega distribution centre in Melbourne.
Goodman and Linfox Property Group have signed Woolworths for a new 70,500 sqm facility in Laverton North, Victoria for 20 years.
The facility will be purpose built for Woolworths’ to service its Liquor Distribution needs will be developed on 228,500 sqm of the 85 hectare Interchange Industrial Estate, Leakes Road.
This is the second substantial pre-commitment Goodman has secured with Woolworths in the last 12 months following the commencement of construction of the 53,000 sqm Woolworths Liquor DC at Interlink Distribution Centre in Sydney.
The centre will accommodate some 500 Woolworths employees on-site and a further 70 transport drivers.
Interchange Industrial Estate is located in the heart of Melbourne’s industrial precinct, approximately 18 kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD.
Goodman’s chief executive in Asia Pacific David van Aanholt said this is the second pre-commitment the joint venture has secured at Interchange Industrial Estate, which was purchased in 2005.
“Woolworths’ commitment secures the Interchange site as a long term industrial estate and we believe this will accelerate the acceptance of the area as a key industrial market,” he added.
Goodman also announced Heidelberg Australia/New Zealand have moved into its facilities at Ferntree Business Park, Notting Hill.
An agreement to occupy the 3,930 sqm purpose-built facility was signed in December 2005. The hi-tech facility will comprise 1500 sqm office and showroom and 2430 sqm warehouse.
Ferntree Business Park’s conjunctional marketing agents Rob Joyes from Colliers International and Andrew Stewart from CB Richard Ellis negotiated the deal.
