DANIEL Grollo's Grocon is selling the 6 Star Greenstar rated Pixel office building in Melbourne.
The building will be marketed by CBRE city sales agents Josh Rutman and Tom Tuxworth by expressions of interest.
Grocon’s David Waldren said the building is an iconic building for the company.
The building features four levels of office space and a rooftop garden, housing wind turbines and photovoltaic panels to power the building.
“As a non-core asset, Pixel has fulfilled its purpose at Grocon, who expect to receive interest from owner-occupiers and investors looking to express their green values,” Grocon CEO Daniel Grollo said.
“Many of the discoveries in building design and technology have been successfully transferred to our other developments. We are hoping that any purchaser will share our values in cutting edge innovation and sustainability,” he added.
Earlier this month Grollo sold part of the former Carlton & United Breweries site to Singapore-based developer Chip Eng Seng Corporation for $32 million.
Located at 170 Victoria St, on the corner of Victoria and Bouverie streets, the 2,927 sqm site will be re-developed into a staged, multi storey mixed use high rise development of 1,000 apartments with street level retail space and a number of podium levels of secure parking in addition to two levels of basement car parking.
The sale is part of Grollo’s plans to unlock capital and get some returns from the 1.6 ha CUB site, which had been earmarked for a $800 million project.
Grocon bought the site from RMIT for $39 million in late 2006 and got the greenlight for a $800 million project comprising five buildings and will vary in height, from 66 levels off Victoria St and 11 level off Queensberry St. However that project has struggled to get off the ground.
