CROWN Group has launched a new $250 million tower in heart of Sydney's CBD.
Located at 161 Clarence St and to be known as Sydney by Crown, the 25-storey building was designed by internationally renowned Koichi Takada Architects and will comprise 220 apartments.
The tower will be within walking distance to Sydney’s new waterfront precinct at Barangaroo, new Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Wynyard station and Darling Harbour. Construction is scheduled for completion in 2017.
Crown Group CEO Iwan Sunito said Sydney by Crown would become one of Sydney’s architectural centrepieces featuring arches that will envelope the tower’s rooftop bar and garden. The lower levels will include an eight-storey cathedral-like atrium rising 20-metres above street level over a new public laneway between Kent and Clarence streets incorporating historic Skittle Lane.
“Sydney by Crown’s innovative design created by Koichi Takada sets a new architectural benchmark for Sydney. We are proud to be able to deliver a truly iconic building in this emerging global city.
“Crown Group had clear vision to create a building which reflected the international, forward-thinking nature of Sydney,” Sunito said. “Sydney by Crown will be unlike anything seen before in Sydney,”
The development will also be home to a collection of Crown Group’s boutique serviced apartments.
Crown Group director of sales and marketing Adam Sparkes said apartment sales will begin at the launch on November 22.
He added that the development has already attracted strong interest from both investors and owner-occupiers.
“The spectacular design with its rooftop arches and eight-storey atrium sets it apart from other residential buildings in Sydney,” he continued.
