CBUS Property will utilise $100 million in CEFC term finance to implement a range of energy efficiency measures at its $1 billion Collins Arch “Pantscraper” mixed-use development in Melbourne, with the aim of delivering a minimum 20% to 25% improvement on the project’s carbon footprint.
Located at 447 Collins Street, the dual-towers of the 47-level project will be linked by a skybridge and will include 184 residential apartments, 50,000 sqm of premium office space across 24 levels, a 294-room, 5-star W Hotel, and 1,000 sqm of retail.
Clean energy technologies slated for the project include high-efficiency air conditioning, energy efficient façade fabric insulation, built-in real-time energy monitoring and the capacity for residential electric vehicle charging.
Collins Arch will be designed to achieve a 5.5 star NABERS Energy rating for the commercial office space; a 4.5 star NABERS Energy rating for the W Hotel and a 7 star average NatHERS rating across its apartments.
“The industry leading sustainability features incorporated throughout Collins Arch will help us deliver on our global commitment to achieve ‘net zero’ carbon emissions across our portfolio by 2030,” Cbus Property chief executive officer, Adrian Pozzo said.
Construction of Collins Arch is expected to reach completion late this year.
The Australian government-owned CEFC has partnered with major industry players on projects recent years including Mirvac, Investa, QIC, AMP Capital Wholesale Office Fund and community housing provider SGCH.
