LAWYER John Barrington and his wife Raewyn have sold their grandiose European mansion in Sydney’s exclusive harbourside suburb of Rose Bay for close to $16 million.
The Ercole Palazzetti-designed mansion at 26 Kent Road, Rose Bay have been held by the couple for over 25 years before it was recently listed on the market.
The property had spent some time on the market, listed for north of $15 million, before it was picked up by sales agent Bill Malouf, who sold it within a week.
Malouf declined to comment on the selling price, but industry sources said it was around $16 million.
“I have to respect the privacy of both parties and I have no comment on the final price.” Malouf said.
Set upon 920 sqm of land, directly opposite The Royal Sydney Golf Club, the triple storey mansion encompasses five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a home cinema, wine cellar, swimming pool, sunbathing deck and level lawns, with private access directly onto Dangar Oval.
“This is a property that is exclusive in both its design and location,” said Malouf. “You need only look to Ercole Palazzetti’s signature influences, the endless entertaining amenities and the immersion in a highly exclusive neighbourhood just a short stroll to Rose Bay Esplanade, Ferry Wharf, elite schools, Rose Bay village shops and close to Double Bay and Bondi Junction.
“Between the property’s first class inclusions, and the world class attractions at its doorstep, there are few homes in Rose Bay, and across Sydney, that can rival this kind of product.”
The home last changed hands in 1996 for $1.12 million.
