TRANSPORT group Lindsay Australia has secured a tenancy in Sentinel Property Group’s Mackay industrial cold storage facility.
Located at 512 Milton Street, Paget, the property spans 5,816sqm with a net lettable area of 1,156sqm, with the cold storage complex built in 2019, including its 705sqm freezer/chiller.
Purchased in February by Sentinel, the facility was vacated by national logistics company, Scott’s Refrigerated Logistics, shortly after the group went into liquidation in April this year.
Sentinel’s leasing team identified a potential new tenant for one of the only purpose-built cold storage facilities in Mackay, in just a few weeks.
“Lindsay Australia were looking for a specialized facility to grow their regional Queensland operation. We had heard that they were in the market and utilizing our regional network made contact and were able to facilitate a long-term deal,” said James Tippelt, industrial leasing executive, Sentinel Property Group.
“The liquidation of Scott’s Refrigerated Logistics created a large hole in the refrigerated transport industry. There was an immediate requirement for someone to fill this gap and Lindsay Australia with their relationship and network in regional Australia have stepped into this role.”
The property also boasts excellent access to the Bruce Highway and Mackay Ring Road.
Lindsay Australia leased the facility on a five year term with two five year options, with industry sources speculating the gross rental is $500/sqm per annum plus outgoings.
Since its establishment as Lindsay Brothers Transport in 1953, Lindsay Australia has become one of Australia’s largest transport companies delivering more than two million tonnes of freight to more than 3,200 customers.
Queensland’s state budget recently delivered $45 million to unlock industrial land in Mackay and Gladstone, with the investment into the Regional Industrial Land Improvement Program (RILIP) will be delivered over three years
