AUSTRALAND has secured DB Schenker Australia to a 14,000 sqm facility at Altona in Melbourne's west.
DB Schenker Australia signed a seven year lease over a circa $13 million facility and will join The Australian Ballet, Toll, Sergi Cranes, Form 700, McIver Contractors and Inver Engineering in the estate.
Australand general manager – southern region Anthony Maugeri said the commitment sets the tone for another solid year of activity at Access Altona.
“Following on from a busy 2012, which saw The Australian Ballet commit to a 12,000 sqm facility and Toll’s pre-commitment to a 17,500 sqm facility, we are pleased to welcome Schenker to Access Altona as enquiry for the estate remains strong.
“The flexibility of our product offering combined with an unrivalled location has helped position Access Altona as the dominant industrial estate in Melbourne’s inner west market,” he added.
Australand executive general manager – commercial & industrial Sean McMahon said demand from industrial owner-occupiers as well as tenants on the lookout for prime space would drive the Melbourne market in 2013.
“The narrowing in the cost gap between renting and owning should encourage industrial users to investigate ownership alternatives in the current low interest rate environment.
“Activity levels have been solid at Access Altona since Australand acquired the land in late 2010. Deal conversion remains challenging in all markets however we have seen generally improved levels of enquiry.” McMahon said.
