BOWRAL’s Briars Country Lodge and Historic Inn, built in New South Wales’ Southern Highlands in 1845, has hit the market.
The 3.792-hectare site comprises the licensed hotel with bars, restaurant, dining and function rooms and accommodation, with Georgian architecture.
It was originally established as the Royal Oak Inn, before being used by the Sydney Church of England Grammar School as an art school during the 20th century. In 1974 it returned to use as an Inn.
The Briars Country Lodge has 31 appointed suites, guest lounge, open fireplace and lakeside conservatory.
The property is offered with two long-term fully secured triple-net leases, with rental as of July 1st this year at $888,933 per annum.
Manenti Quinlan & Associates Pty Limited along with Cooper Hotel Brokers are marketing the property via expressions of interest closing on Thursday, June 22nd.
Gerry Quinlan of Manenti Quinlan & Associates said it is expected that there will be local as well as interstate and international competition for the site, particularly from Asia.
“While Asian investors continue their love affair with Australia they now see Sydney just as another busy city. They are looking for trophy properties and lifestyle experiences in quality regional locations.”
Quinlan said Manenti Quinlan & Associates has recently sold a total of 11 hospitality properties across Newcastle, Mid-North Coast, Hunter Valley, South Coast and Southern Highlands.
“Recently there has been a stampede of investors heading to the Southern Highlands. It is expected this will continue with the sale of The Briars,” he said.
