IWAN Sunito’s Crown Group has taken full ownership of Eastlakes shopping centre in south Sydney after buying out joint venture partner Prosha Pty Ltd and has plans to overhaul the centre.
Sunito said Crown Group has commenced immediate renovations in time for the start of New Year, including painting of interiors and exteriors and installation of new signage.
Additional improvements being considered for later in 2016 include new seating areas and improved flooring.
“2016 will mark a new direction and approach for Eastlakes shopping centre and our tenants and local residents will see a big improvement as we bring Crown Group’s expertise into the centre.
“We’d like to reinvigorate Eastlakes Shopping Centre into a more vibrant place; improving the look and feel for our loyal customers and surrounding community in time for the New Year,” he added.
First opened in 1965, Eastlakes is one of Sydney’s oldest shopping centres and is currently home to Woolworths and Aldi supermarkets.
Eventually Sunito said Crown Group plans to redevelop the shopping centre by demolishing existing buildings to make way for a modern $500 million mixed-use retail and residential project.
