AUSTRALIAN-based alternative asset management firm Jameson TTB has teamed up and secured investment from Andrew Buxton’s private investment vehicle, The Buxton Family Office (BFO), to help drive the business’s growth and expansion, provide capital certainty and build out its funds management platform.
Buxton is the co-founder and managing director of Melbourne-based property development business MAB Corporation, which has operations that span master-planned communities, residential, commercial and industrial and investment management with a current pipeline $16.5 billion pipeline of projects.
Andrew’s son, Charlie Buxton, who is the managing director of commercial and industrial development and investment management business Cadence Property Group, is also involved within the family office and its investment in Jameson, formerly Jameson Capital.
BFO will provide funding as an underwriter to future deals and transactions, giving Jameson greater capital certainty and the ability to execute on complex and time-sensitive opportunities quickly. The deal will also tap the Buxtons’ property development expertise and help Jameson expand its direct investment business, targeting principal investments with mid-market developers and asset owners.
The BFO is also a major investor in the Jameson Special Situations fund, a $100 million fund that will invest into a diversified portfolio of hybrid-credit investments in sectors that include last mile logistics, childcare, seniors living, self-storage, data centres, medium density residential and healthcare.
As a like-minded family, who have a deep understanding of real estate and have the capital to place, it will allow us to build out our real estate debt and equity funds and execute deals faster through capital certainty,” said Jonathan Webster, director and co-founder of Jameson TTB.
Andrew Buxton said, “As initial investors in the Jameson Special Situations fund, we saw the prospect of a broader working relationship with the firm and the ability to add diversity to our current operations through exposure to transactions in alternative real estate such as aged care, data centres, self-storage, and childcare.
“Where traditionally we have been straight developers, we see a broader opportunity set with Jameson TTB in the alternative funds management space.”
Charlie Buxton and Lauren Short, financial controller for the Buxton Family Office and MAB Corporation, have been appointed to the board of Jameson TTB.
