FORMER JLL agent Simon Rooney, dubbed the $20 million man, has joined rival agency CBRE.
Rooney departed JLL last month after 25 years. As the firm’s head of retail investments, Rooney ranked as one of JLL’s top three brokers globally and is known as the “$20 million man” in commissions.
Over the past decade, he has transacted more than $20 billion worth of investments including landmark retail sales such as Brisbane’s Indooroopilly shopping centre, Westfield Eastgardens in Sydney and the Vicinity Centres portfolio.
He also handled mixed-use transactions such as 80 Collins St in Melbourne and the MLC Centre and Wynyard Place in Sydney.
Joining CBRE on August 01, Rooney has been appointed executive managing director, retail investments.
CBRE Pacific president & CEO Phil Rowland said his appointment highlighted the company’s focus on securing leading market talent to ensure the ongoing delivery of exceptional client outcomes.
“Having an executive of Simon’s calibre join CBRE highlights our focus on securing the top talent in our industry to ensure we are delivering market leading results for our clients.
“Simon’s appointment adds further firepower to our capital narkets platform given his extensive connections to local and global capital, strengthening our reach and ability to deliver superior outcomes across the retail spectrum,” Rowland concluded.
