AMP Capital Investors has appointed Chris Judd as the new head of property funds management.
Judd is now responsible for overseeing the management of AMP Capital’s suite of property investment products. These include the AMP Statutory Fund Numbers 1, 2 and 3, Wholesale Office and Shopping Centre Funds, the Global Direct Property Fund, the Property Portfolio Service and the Property Income Fund.
Judd’s appointment follows the promotion of previous incumbent, Andrew Bennett, to the position of executive business development manager. Bennett is now responsible for improving AMP Capital’s property product distribution capabilities in order to help grow existing funds and create new business opportunities.
AMP Capital Investors’ director and chief investment officer of property Andrew Bird said he was delighted to appoint an internal candidate to this key position.
“Chris Judd has 20 years of experience in property funds management. He has been fund manager of a number of sector-specific and diversified listed and unlisted funds, having held senior positions at Multiplex Capital and Colonial First State.
“Most recently, he launched and managed the AMP Capital Global Direct Property Fund which is currently engaged in deploying funds from the successful initial capital raising,” Bird said.
“The position of Head of Property Funds Management is a key executive position within our property business as it ensures we retain a sharp focus on the delivery of superior investment performance for our clients.
“If we continue to do this well, our long term strategic growth goals will be met. Chris brings the necessary depth and breadth of property fund and capital markets knowledge and experience to this role,” he continued.
The appointment, which takes effect immediately, followed an extensive search that included both internal and external candidates.
Judd said the property market is challenging.
“But I believe it is in markets such as these that a quality house with an experienced team like AMP Capital has a competitive advantage.
“My initial focus will be ensuring our clients recognise the opportunities which are presenting themselves in the prevailing market,” he concluded.
