PORT of Melbourne has leased 2,000 sqm of office space overlooking the port itself, on the top floor of Lendlease’s $430 million tower at 839 Collins Street Docklands precinct Victoria Harbour.
The 39,000 sqm building reached practical completion this week and the first commercial tenants are expected to move in over the coming weeks.
Major lender ANZ will anchor the building, having pre-committed to 26,500 sqm, while insurance company QBE has taken 6,000 sqm across three floors.
Only one floor remains available for lease.
Port of Melbourne employees will have a sweeping view of 500 hectares of their port asset, which includes 21 kilometres of waterfront. Workers will move into the level 19 premises later this year.
“We are pleased to welcome Port of Melbourne to 839 Collins Street. The synergy between the evolution of the port as a trade gateway and Victoria Harbour’s early industry is strong, intertwining significant elements of Melbourne’s history,” Lendlease’s managing director, urban regeneration, John Burton said.
Lendlease has also secured tenants for five of the six retail shops. The Other Brother by Melbourne hospitality venture Continental Hospitality Group will operate a signature restaurant and lobby café, following on from their ventures Mr Grazier at 700 Bourke Street and Super Eight at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.
Other tenants will include Chilangos Mexican Cantina, PonyBoy and Thai Thani, leaving one shop available for lease.
“The curated mix of vibrant and diverse restaurants will increase day and night time trading in the precinct, further activating the existing public amenity in Victoria Harbour to service the thousands of workers and residents,” Burton said.
