In addition, there were fewer property listings last Saturday when compared to the same time last year.
Last Saturday, Sydney was the only city to record more sales than last week when compared to the same time 12 months ago.
In Sydney, 165 properties were listed for auction of which 76 were sold, resulting in an auction clearance rate of 52.1%. The total value of properties sold was $58.4 million.
In Melbourne, 414 properties went under the hammer of which 145 were sold, resulting in an auction clearance rate of 57.8%. The total value of properties sold was $61.4 million.
Last Saturday in Adelaide, 37 properties were listed for auction of which 17 were sold, resulting in an auction clearance rate of 56.7%. The total value of properties sold was $5.7 million.
Meanwhile in Brisbane, 37 properties were auctioned of which 10 were sold, resulting in an auction clearance rate of 41.7%. The total value of properties sold was $6.1 million.
Meanwhile, last week, the latest figures from APM show house prices on the east coast of Australia have fallen in the March 2006 quarter.
In Sydney, the median house price fell by 1.1% to $516,000, easing 3.8% when compared to March 2005.
