THE Scott family has brought to a close five generations of ownership of blue-ribbon Riverina farming aggregation Aratula, which they put to the market with expectations of $40 million.
An undisclosed corporate buyer has acquired the 4,850-hectare aggregation, comprising four farms 25 kilometres west of Tocumwal, for an undisclosed sum, according to The Weekly Times.
The aggregation has developed a reputation for prime beef and winter crop production. It runs about 300 cows plus followers, and 1,200 ewes and lambs have been run on the property in recent years.
In recent seasons there have been about 2,035 hectares of planted winter crops, just over half of which has been wheat, alongside canola, barley and peas.
Alluvial, highly productive creek flats are complemented by vast, open, fertile farming and fattening country.
Nutrien Harcourts Deniliquin agents James Sides and Jake Freshwater managed the sale.
The four properties making up Aratula are Oomabah, spanning 2,208 hectares, Aratula (1,328 hectares), Main Camp (686 hectares) and Wahroonga North (629 hectares).
Aratula features century-old five-bedroom homestead that was renovated in 1980.
Other improvements include steel machinery shedding, workshops, and woolsheds.
