A THREE-tower mixed-use development designed by a consortium of PTW Architects, Collins and Turner and McGregor Coxall, has been unveiled at the former Cumberland Newspapers site.
Located at 142 Macquarie St Parramatta, the development will comprise a 60-storey residential tower, a 35-level and 25-level building comprising 964 apartments, commercial and retail, restaurant and bar as well as option for a 150-room hotel and serviced apartment component.
The project will form a dynamic new civic plaza, maximising views of the Parramatta River, particularly running east to the Sydney CBD and to the north across the river and of the Blue Mountains.
The Cumberland Newspapers site is important for PTW, as it will be the first residential project PTW have designed in Parramatta.
Director Siobhan McInerney said the public domain allows the tallest residential tower to energise the new plaza directly, with the two taller towers responding to one another and the skyspace between the two creating an exciting silhouette.
Collins and Turner’s proposal for the middle height 35-storey building combines hotel and residential accommodation.
