MELBOURNE developer Intrapac and joint venture partners Brencorp Properties and Bayport have launched a new $2 billion suburb, set on the former quarry in Lilydale, in Melbourne’s east.
Intrapac acquired the property in 2016 for more than $40 million, the mixed development will be known as Kinley.
Kinley has been identified as a project of state significance by the Victorian Planning Authority.
Set on a 163ha property which incorporated the historic Lilydale Quarry, when complete, Kinley will house some 8,000 residents in approximately 3,200 dwellings.
Now, Kinley is slated to become a place where residents feel truly at home with community facilities, abundant public open spaces, and with connections to the Box Hill Institute, Lillydale lake and the Warburton Trail.
The quarry was first opened in 1878 by David Mitchell, father of Dame Nellie Melba, and was until 2015 the oldest lime quarry in the country – in continuous operation for 137 years.
Comprising of five neighbourhoods, Kinley’s proposed masterplan (STCA) includes a vibrant village centre, cafes and public space, playgrounds, childcare, a community centre and a vertical school.
