QV1 has become the first existing asset in Western Australia to receive WELL Certification, after co-owner, Investa, participated in International WELL Building Institute’s (IWBI) program.
Located at 250 St Georges Terrace, the 1991-built QV1 achieved Gold WELL v2 Core Certification from IWBI after Investa Commercial Property Fund (ICPF) enrolled in the WELL Portfolio program, to enhance health, wellbeing and sustainability credentials across its entire portfolio.
“As a long-time APAC leader, Investa is using WELL at scale, implementing people-first strategies across all of its locations, to advance health and wellbeing for employees and tenants,” said Rachel Hodgdon, president and CEO of IWBI.
As well as marking the state’s first WELL rating of existing asset, QV1 is also only the second building in WA to receive WELL Certification and the third certified building in the ICPF portfolio.
IWBI’s WELL Building Standard v2 is a performance-based rating system that measures features of the built environment’s impact on human health, well-being, and performance, including air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort and mind.
COVID-19 made health, safety and wellbeing a top priority for tenants, workers and asset owners alike, with around one quarter of all office space in Australia enrolled in a WELL certification program.
“IWBI’s recognition of QV1’s achievements is incredibly important to the QV1 team. This rating highlights the building’s world class standard of operations and amenity,” said Simone Chiellini, operations manager at QV1.
On-site amenities that contributed to the rating include premium end-of-trip facilities and the Q Fitness centre. With a program of events and activities also supporting the certification, through promoting work-life balance and a healthy community environment.
“We’re proud to have an existing asset certified under this rating tool, showing that great design, amenity, and sustainability can lead to long-lasting rewards for our owners and occupants,” added Chiellini.
Blue-chip tenants at QV1 include King & Wood Mallesons, Clayton Utz, LINK Group, DXC Technology, HSBC, Clough and Architectus.
“As co-owners of QV1, ICPF is proud of this achievement. The changes in the WELL tool that have allowed us to certify existing assets, have enabled us to achieve recognition of our buildings internationally for the high standard of health and wellbeing offered to our tenants,” said Brendan Looby, fund manager at ICPF.
